Canadian activist and author of 12 books Yves Engler unravels the intricate web of Canadian imperialism and its complicity in the ongoing atrocities against the Palestinian people in an upcoming public event in Courtenay.
Engler will delve into the heart of his latest book, Canada’s Long Fight Against Democracy, examining his views on Canada’s history of backing coups and undermining democratically elected governments worldwide.
Engler’s appearance will take place on Sunday evening June 9 from 6:45 – 8:45 p.m. in the Tsolum Building, in Courtenay’s Lewis Park. Admission is by donation. Copies of Engler’s latest book will be available for purchase and signing. Masks are recommended
Drawing from his extensive research and activist experience, Engler will also unveil the disturbing connections detailed in his groundbreaking work, Canada and Israel: Building Apartheid, in which he unveils what he claims to be Canada’s deep involvement in 20th and 21st-century colonialism, dispossession, and war crimes, particularly in its support for Israeli policies against the Palestinians.
Born to left-wing parents deeply entrenched in progressive movements, Engler brings a unique perspective to the forefront of activism. His relentless pursuit of truth has earned him praise as “one of the most important voices on the Canadian left.”
As Engler shares insights from his latest book and confronts the realities of Canadian foreign policy, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms driving geopolitical agendas and the urgent need for grassroots activism to challenge entrenched power structures.
