Young musicians are once again being invited to enter Courtenay’s annual Battle of the Bands contest.
This event gives musicians 19 and under the opportunity to showcase their talents to a panel of judges and a live audience, with prizes for first, second and third place.
Open to all eligible bands from the Comox Valley and areas north on Vancouver Island, the contest is considered an excellent opportunity for our young musicians to jump start their musical careers.
The event takes place at Simms Park, across from Lewis Park in Courtenay, from 5 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 25 with performance times scheduled by the event organizer.
The deadline for entry forms is Friday, June 16. Forms can be picked up at Long and McQuade, Goat FM or the Florence Filberg Centre.
Applications may also be downloaded from the Goat FM website, or from comoxvalleycanadaday.ca.
Sponsored by the City of Courtenay’s July 1st Committee, the event has been a feature of Canada Day celebrations for many years.
Co-sponsors include Dove Creek Recording Studio, Long and McQuade Musical Instruments, and Goat FM radio station.
