Animal lovers are invited to the Courtenay Airpark this Sunday to show support for tougher penalties and laws for animal cruelty.
“This is a social, peaceful and unorganized dog walk,” say organizers Sandra Haines and Dana Molaert. “We will be circulating a petition to voice our concerns, which will be sent to the appropriate agencies.”
They say they hope everyone will abide by the leash and licensing laws of our community. They remind participants to bring baggies and water, if necessary, for their dogs.
Donations for a memorial plaque and to cover the cost of the event are appreciated, they say. Other donations on your behalf can be made to the animal charity that’s close to your heart.
People are asked to gather at 1 p.m. at the Mansfield Drive entrance.
