Did you resolve to increase productivity and get more organized in 2018? Spending less time managing your emails means more time to accomplish other New Year’s resolutions.
The first email sent in 1971 was a simple test message by computer engineer Ray Tomlinson to himself. Five years later, Queen Elizabeth II sent an email on March 26, 1976, as a part of a demonstration of networking technology. 1991 brought us the first email from outer space: “Hello Earth! Greetings from the STS-43 Crew. This is the first AppleLink from space. Having a GREAT time, wish you were here,…send cryo and RCS! Hasta la vista, baby,…we’ll be back!”
The last two decades have seen an overwhelming increase of emails as people around the world have gained easier access to the internet and use it to communicate in all aspects of their lives.
Not surprisingly, unproductive email management is one of our biggest time thieves and daily stressors.
As communication via email has increased, productivity experts have been developing ways to organize inboxes and use email more effectively.
Enter Garland Coulson (aka “Captain Time”) and his workshop entitled “Zero Email Inbox”. The Zero Email Inbox technique works for any email system and takes less than 20 minutes a day.
In this two-hour workshop, you will acquire techniques and tools you can use every day, not “ivory tower” concepts. You will learn how to organize your inbox, find any email within seconds, stop irrelevant emails before they reach you, ensure priority emails won’t get missed, and so much more. Attendees are welcome to bring their own laptops and apply these new techniques during the class.
The workshop will be held on Jan. 24 from 1–3 p.m. at the Volunteer Comox Valley boardroom. Seating is limited. Register by Jan. 19 by contacting Joanne at 250-334-8063 or sending an email to info@volunteercomoxvalley.ca.
The fee for the workshop is $50. Volunteer Comox Valley members will receive a 20 per cent discount.
