Prestige Video owners Larrie and Margaret Szafron won the Business of the Year at the Comox Valley Home-Based Business Association awards.

When it comes to preserving life’s cherished memories, Comox entrepreneurs Larrie and Margaret Szafron have been a resource for area residents and businesses since he started Prestige Video Transfer in 2005.

Since that time, Prestige Video has transferred and digitized thousands of reels of film, VHS, Beta and camcorder tapes to DVD to better preserve the images, making it more convenient for clients to view their memories on today’s video equipment.  The company converts old photographs, slides and negatives to digital files, using professional equipment that ensures better quality than home photo scanners.

The photo service makes it possible to view old photos and slides on computers or DVD players, and preserves photos digitally in case of unexpected water or fire damage.

Prestige Video — named Business of the Year by the Comox Valley Home-Based Business Association — also provides documentary-style videography, and converts records and tapes to CDs.

“Whether a speaker wants to capture a presentation for use on a website or for a UTube upload, or a grandparent wants to create a memoir as a gift for children and grandchildren, we can do it,” Szafron said.

Boxes of film, tapes, slides, photos and negatives continue to pour in as baby boomers recognize the importance of passing memories onto family members or friends.
