What started more than 30 years ago has led to three decades of fun, laughter, and quirky finds at the cheekiest store on 5th Street in Courtenay.

 Uranus has become a beloved (pet-friendly) destination, offering a unique mix of novelty items, cards, and gifts that customers love. They especially are well stocked for your seasonal gift shopping needs for the holidays: Valentine's, Easter, and Christmas. 

Originally, the store was led by owner Sherry Bruce-Marshall, and under her guidance, it became known for its playful atmosphere and kitschy products. Today, Siobhan Hayton, who has been with the store for more than 24 years as the manager, is now the proud new owner. Hayton worked closely with Bruce-Marshall throughout the years and learned invaluable lessons about curating the perfect selection of items.  

Uranus has expanded its product range, introducing lines like bags by Matt & Nat, more local makers, art prints, and unique housewares. Despite these exciting changes, many of the store鈥檚 favourites remain such as sweary socks by Blue Q candles, and soap by Comox Valley鈥檚 own Rainwater and an impressive collection of cards. These quirky items continue to keep Uranus a fun go-to designation for shoppers from near and far. 

Celebrating more than 30 years of business at 356 - 5th Street, Uranus has solidified its place in the community.
