Lennox and Bennett Sheet Metal are welcoming nominations for their annual Feel The Love program now until Aug. 31.
For the 14th year in a row, Lennox is partnering with its residential dealer network to recognize deserving community heroes in the U.S. and Canada by donating heating or cooling equipment and installation free of charge.
In the Comox Valley, that dealership is Bennett Sheet Metal & Heating.
“We’re calling on family members, friends, neighbours, co-workers and local organizations to nominate deserving community heroes in need of a new HVAC unit to feel safer and to breathe better in their home,” said Shawna Logan, the Feel The Love campaign manager for Bennett Sheet Metal. “Selected recipients will receive brand new heating or cooling equipment during this year’s Feel The Love Installation Week, taking place in October.”
Bennett Sheet Metal first got involved with the program in 2021, as a way to celebrate the Comox Valley company’s 60th anniversary.
That year, Mabel Kelly was the recipient.
In 2022, Sally Wisden and family of Courtenay were the local benefactors of the Feel The Love campaign.
Wisden, who bought her Wentworth Road home in 1997, was thrilled with the news she was getting a free heating system.
“My mother lives in the basement, and both of us struggle with physical health problems, so wood can be a bit onerous,” said Wisden. “It’s a lot of work, and because she is getting so frail, I am having to do a lot of the work myself – worrying about both wood stoves, sourcing wood, getting it split, getting it stacked.
“My mom’s foster daughter – my foster sister – Leila Sherwood, nominated me. I was astonished. I had never heard of this. She let me know and I just felt really touched by it. I feel really lucky to be the person chosen… it is an incredible thing.”
The new high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment donated through Feel The Love will not only have the immediate benefit of comfort, but will also have a long-term impact on the environment and energy bills, as recipients’ energy usage can be reduced by approximately 30 to 40 per cent.
“We are proud to support the health and comfort of the unsung heroes who put others first and make a difference in their communities,” said Gary Bedard, EVP & president at Lennox Residential Business segment. “Through our Feel The Love program, we remain committed to making clean, comfortable air accessible to all.”
