Discount hunters , preparing to stock a cart during the chain's nation-abandoning liquidation sale. But while signs outside the story advertised 'EVERYTHING UP TO 30% OFF', some shoppers say they were disappointed to find minimal bargains on the stuff they lined up for.
"I was like, where's all the 30 stuff at? And then, everything's at 10 (per cent off), that I would want," said one shopper in Toronto, Paul Boychuk. "I was looking for something, you know, any electronics that were on sale. I was expecting some 50 to 70 per cent, maybe.
"I got here and everything's pretty much, like, 10 per cent. Not super impressed, really."
Target expects to close all their Canadian stores by May, and to be out of the country by the summer. Liquidation prices are expected to be slashed the closer Target gets to those dates, certainly more than 10 or 30 per cent from regular prices, to clear out product.
