Five Comox Valley businesses are nominees for the Better Business Bureau 2011 Torch Awards, which recognizes businesses having gone above and beyond in their commitment to being fair, honest and reliable.
The organization received nominations by customers for 99 different businesses.
In the Cleaning Services category, the only non-Victoria based business nominated in the group is Above All Cleaning from Courtenay.
In the Hospitality, Tourism and Event Services category, the 2010 winner Two Eagles Lodge located in Union Bay is nominated a second time, going up against a variety of service providers in Victoria and Lantzville.
D R Faust Finishing & Stoneworks from Courtenay is a finalist in the Cement and Custom Soneworks category, while R.A. Spencer Contracting located in Courtenay is a finalist in the General Contractors, Home Building and Renovations category.
The fifth Valley nominee is Phantom Screens from Comox, competing against other businesses from Victoria, Nanaimo and Parksville in the Installation, Service and Repairs category.
2011 Torch Award finalists for each category will be announced March 30.
Winners will be announced at the gala event May 6 at Bear Mountain Victoria Gold Resort and Spa.
