H Mart, the beloved Korean-American supermarket chain, appears to be close to opening in its highly anticipated Victoria location near the Mayfair Mall food court.

While an official opening date remains under wraps, sources close to the project indicate that final preparations are underway.

The store was originally slated to open in the former Toys R Us location in November 2023 but the long wait could soon be over for Victoria shoppers, as the doors are now expected to open in late April or early May.

The buzz surrounding the new store has been steadily growing, with local residents eagerly awaiting the chance to stock up on H Mart's wide selection of authentic Asian ingredients, fresh produce, and prepared foods.

While rooted in the Korean market chain model, H Mart promises to be a diverse shopping destination.

Beyond its selection of traditional Asian brands, the Victoria location will also stock Canadian, South American and European products, catering to a wide range of tastes and preferences.

When it finally opens, this new Victoria location will join H Mart's extensive network of over 100 stores in the U.S., eight in British Columbia, nine in Ontario, four in Alberta and three in Quebec, solidifying the chain's presence across North America.
